| Q: A.) Will you ship to Canada?
(Postal code N6C5E4 B) Do you think there is room beneath the blower inlet
to install a custom fabricated water/air aftercooler? I want to install this
on a 2008 Ranger 4.0 and use it to pull a single axle enclosed bike trailer.
I want something more passive than water /methanol injection to control the
boosted air temps. C.) You have obviously been looking at this, is there a
condensation issue with the water to air coolers? D.) Do you use a booster
fuel pump and an FMU? Thanks Roger Feb-25-08 |
| A.) I have already shipped to Canada, but shipping cost
is a little more. |
| B.) This is the main reason I did the re-design, the
water/air cooler is still in the design stages. |
| C.) If you leave the stock 3.16" supercharger pulley on
you will have roughly a rear wheel gain of 60hp. This relates to a boost
pressure of 5.5lbs, and a intercooler is not needed. This is what I am still
running and now have over 86,000 miles on my setup. The water/air cooler
setup will be for those that wish to increase boost pressure above the 6lb
mark by reducing the supercharger pulley to a minimum size of 2.8" |
| D.) I want something more passive than water/methanol
injection to control the boosted air temps. You have obviously been looking
at this, is there a condensation issue with the water to air coolers? |

Q: Will this kit fit on a 2004
Ford Ranger Tremor 4x4 4.0 V6? Let me know - I have a Super Coupe and 2
superchargers for it. I have a Mustang that I'm about to put the whole motor
in but I tried to do it with my Mustang motor but I found out you need some
other parts. I have one complete Super Coupe motor that's going in my
mustang and I have another M90 supercharger that if it will fit on my Ranger
I'll get that kit sometime.. let me know thanks.
Feb-17-08 |
| A.) The 2004 Ford Ranger 4.0 SOHC is the same engine. Is
the EGR on the drivers side? Is Air filter on the passenger side? Is the
ignition coil located near the firewall? If the answer is yes to all (3)
then there should be no problem. When you get serious it would be a good
idea to send me some digital pictures of your engine compartment, to verify
prior to purchase. If the supercharger has the (oval) inlet it will be the
correct one. The supercoupe engine is a 3.8 v6 if I remember correctly, a
completely different engine? Check out my website to view pictures and add'l
info. If you have any questions you can email me at

|
| Q: Hello there - will this fit on
the OHV 4.0? Thanks, Jason Feb-09-08 |
| A: Will not adapt to the OHV engine - only the SOHC. I
hope to take that challenge on next! |

|
| Q: A.) Does this come
with instructions so I can bolt this up myself? B.) How do I go about
putting the intercooler on, where would it go, and which intercooler should
I buy? Feb-09-08 |
| A: A.) There are instructions on removal of factory
parts & instructions on assembly of new component parts. B.) Let me be
perfectly clear - there is no intercooler available at this time. It is
still in the design stage as a future option! This setup using the stock
pulley on the M90 will provide a maximum of 6 lbs boost and an intercooler
is not needed. This will give you a rear wheel gain of approx 60 hp. |

|
| Q: I just saw your web site -
awesome! I read through the faq's and noticed that someone asked about maybe
an M112 in the future. Have you gotten any closer to this manifold? Maybe in
the next year or so? If not, the M90 will be fine for me. Just curious if I
should hold off a little longer before I purchase if there will be that
upgrade. Thanks, Ian Feb-07-08 |
A: I am currently completing a top plate for the M112,
but still need to design the intake. The M90 kit is proven to be very
reliable. I have one individual that will be testing the M112 setup along
with myself. I will not market it until it has been proven reliable, as
there are a few unknowns at present. The main reason for my re-design was to
allow different superchargers. This will now be available by changing the
manifold top plate only. So to
answer your question it could be a long wait until I feel comfortable to
market the M112 kit. |

|
| Q: Hey I talked to you a while
ago - sorry I didn't buy the kit then but I had a kid. I'm going to be ready
in a couple weeks. I have a 2002 explorer sport I'm putting it on and I have
a couple more questions. When I put the kit on will my truck run without a
tune? I found a couple superchargers on ebay and was wondering if you could
help me find the right one? Thanks Feb-03-08 |
| A: Congratulations on the birth of your child! I ran
the stock computer tune on my 2002 Ford Ranger for over 3 months. The
computer will re-learn and set to the changed environment. The main problem
I noticed when I did my first DYNO was it would lean out at high rpm and
power levels. I then kept boost down to about 3 lbs until I went to an SCT
tune event and purchased the ExcalibratorII and a tune for fuel and shift
points only for my automatic. If you have a digital camera you might want to
take some pictures under your hood, so I can verify that everything is the
same as my Ranger. I would be happy to verify the Supercharger just send a
link to my email it's

|
| Q: I have a 2001 Ford Ranger that
has a 4.0 SOHC. I just want to make sure that the kit will work before I
buy. Thanks Jan-29-08 |
| A: Yes, it will but is the EGR tube connected to the
drivers side exhaust manifold? Don't purchase yet as it will be a week till
I have more kits ready to ship. I am waiting for a shipment from
Powdercoating. Have you checked out my website and Ranger Power Sports as a
few individuals have my kit installed? Links are
http://www.candmnovelties.com/ and
http://www.rangerpowersports.com/forum/ |

|
| Q: What's up? Would this kit fit
a 2002 Explorer 4.0? Jan-23-08 |
| A: Yes, the engine in the 2002 Explorer 4.0 is the
same as my 2002 Ranger. The only thing you should verify is that the air
filter is on the passenger side. Check out under-hood pic's at
http://www.candmnovelties.com/ |

|
| Q: What are the chances of
supplying a blower to suit your kit and sending it to a address in the
states? If so, could you give me a price for the hole kit including blower
and shipping Apr-15-06? |
| A: I won't send a used blower, as I would not want the
responsibility. The used supercharger I got on Ebay ran about 112.00 plus
shipping, and I have right at 28,000 miles on it and still running great.
Maybe in future I'll design with the New MP-90 Eaton, but that would cost
another 1300.00. My idea was to keep cost down using available products. |

|
Q: I am interested and am wondering
if you can send pics of it installed? I am wondering how it looks once
installed - my email is jacentcordova@yahoo.com thankyou Apr-15-06
|
A: Email sent
|

|
Q: I have a 04 4x4 and I was
wondering if I will have any problems with my auto tranny with this added
HP. I really want to blow it but I drive 60mi a day with it. Rangers are
dependable and I don't want to change that. Another thing is, how many pound
pulley do you have or how many lb pulley is stock. thanks, Jim Apr-15-06
|
A: Jim, My ranger is my daily driver, and I put on aprox
120 miles per day. MY 02 had 92,000 miles on it when I installed the
supercharger. I have now just turned 120,000 miles. Mine is a 5 speed
automatic too. The stock Supercoupe pulley will give you right at 5.5 lbs
boost. I am still running stock injectors and maf. With K&N cold air intake
I'm getting close to 60 add'l hp at the rear wheels. With the by-pass you
get boost on demand. While cruse or idle no boost. The 5r55e automatic
transmission should handle up to 300hp at engine which will give you around
250hp at rear wheels. You will need to change from 87 to 91 octane. But my
mileage has increased by about 10%, as it no longer kicks down on grades.
Much more power. If you would like send me your personal email address and
I'll send you a link to my website, as more info and pic's are available.
|

|
Q: This item will work perfect on a
99 ranger 4x4 with the 4.0 liter v6 correct? All the parts are included
except M90 supercharger - nothing else 2 buy? Apr-13-06
|
A: No! I believe your engine is a OHV. This will only work
on the SOHC engine only.
|

|
Q: Any chance you can have one of
these made for an OHV 4.0???? Apr-11-06
|
A: If you would like me to contact you when I have a
manifold setup for the OHV, send me your personal email address. I will add
you to my list, for notification. regards, Ron
|

|
Q: I LIVE IN NEW YORK AND WAS
WONDERING IF DOING THIS TO MY TRUCK WOULD INTERFERE WITH THE OBD2 AND THE
EMISSIONS? Apr-10-06
|
A: As far as computer codes have not had one error message
since it was installed in my vehicle. The emission controls have not been
removed, just relocated. Using a supercharger should have no effect on
emissions, but check with your local. If your 4.0 SOHC has the EGR on the
drivers side, it would be same as mine. If you wish send me your personal
email address and I'll give you the link to my web page, with additional
info.
|

|
Q: I found a importer to bring your
kit to Australia - need to know no of boxes & ruff sizes of boxes for the
importer? Apr-10-06
|
A: One shipping box. 20 x 12 x 10 inches. Weight 19 lbs.
regards, Ron
|

|
Q: Does the kit come with a
installation write-up or instructions? I think I could handle the install,
but its nice to have something to reference. Also on behalf of the SOHC
ranger community thanks for building this! Apr-09-06
|
A: It comes with instructions for the removal of the
original parts and instructions for the installation. If you send me your
personal email address I can send you to the instruction webpage.
|

|
Q: Can you make a kit for a 96 4.0,
also your work looks very clean :) Apr-06-06
|
A: The OHV will be a future project. There will be
additional requirements. Fuel pump, injectors, etc. The installation will be
more involved. If you wish, send me your personal email address and I'll add
it to my list of contacts. I'll notify you when I have the OHV system
available.
|

|
Q: WHAT MODIFICATIONS WERE DONE TO
THE COMPUTER TO RUN THE BLOWER KIT ON YOUR RANGER TO ENSURE THE TUNE WAS
CORRECT(AIR/FUEL RATIO & IGN TIMING ETC) Apr-05-06
|
A: No modifications were done for the first 15,000 miles. I
had no detonation or timing problems at all. After around 15,000 miles my
mileage was increasing from 15 to 17 miles per gallon. Somewhere around that
time I took it in for my 1st dyno run and found it was starting to lean out
on top end. Shortly there after I had a SCT Flash tune for fuel enrichment
only. Also he set shift points for my automatic. I'd planed on installing
30lb injectors and 80mm gt maf and then get a final tune, but have not done
it yet. It's putting out around 60 add'l hp at rear wheels. Got plenty of
power for a daily driver. Any other questions you can also use my email
rcaster@yahoo.com
|

|
Q: If supercharger is not included
then why do you show a picture of the charger? Sounds to me like this ad is
very misleading. Apr-03-06
|
A: This ad is not misleading! The 4th sentence in the
description states: NOTE! SUPERCHARGER IS NOT INCLUDED The main reason it is
shown is to allow a visual image of how the completed unit will look. The
other reason is so that if an individual wishes to purchase the supercharger
on Ebay they will know what it should look like. There are many M90's made
for different vehicles. The only one that will work is the one I stated. I
am posting this question and answer, as it is NOT my intent to mislead.
regards, Ron
|

|
Q: I was wondering if this kit will
fit on a 1992 ranger 4.0L. Thanks for your help. Mar-23-06
|
A: No! The 1992 will be the OHV. Hopefully in the near
future I will provide a setup. If you like send me you email and I will file
it and send you a notice when its available.
|

|
Q: Do you have any pics after
install? I have a 2002 Edge 4X4 4.0L. Do you sell superchargers, or have a
source to suggest? Mar-19-06
|
A: The supercharger can be picked up on Ebay almost
anytime. It's an M90 used in the Supercoupe T-Bird with oval inlet. I got
the one in my 2002 Ford Ranger for $112.00. They are going up in price now
as demand is increasing. You can still get one for around $250.00 tho. If
you send me your email address I will send you some pic's. Mine is rcaster@yahoo.com
|

|
Q: I sure hope you're going to keep
having these for a couple months. Mar-12-06
|
A: In a couple of months there should be more inventory.
All 3-Colors for quick ship.
|

|
Q: How does this kit compare to the
X-Charger kit in your opinion ? They claim to be getting 80 Hp out of their
kit - Have you considered getting their chip ? Are you using the same fuel
injector size ? Where does one get & how much are they - the Eaton blower ?
Mar-05-06
|
A: The X-Charger is a nice kit, using the Eaton MP62
supercharger. It lists for $3995.00 for the Ford Ranger. My kit uses a
larger Eaton M90 supercharger, but it is out of the earlier Thunderbird
supercoupe, that you can get on EBAY used from between $120.00 to $250.00.
My original intent was to provide a setup for about half the going price.
They state they get 74 plus HP at 6 psi boost. Check out the Jan 2006
article Project Range Runner in Four Wheeler magazine. The final Dyno
results were 225hp and 257lb ft tq. My Dyno results are 216hp and 250lb ft
tq. This relates to me putting out 9hp less and 7lb ft tq less than the
X-Charger at 5.5lbs boost. I don't think this is too bad using the stock
injectors and maf. Kind of makes you wonder what could be accomplished with
a smaller pulley, pick up minimum of 3lbs boost. 30lb injectors instead of
the stock 24lb, 80mm gt maf, SCT performance tune, etc. Check out my website
and you can see other info. I can say that I've had this setup on my Ranger
since last April, with no problems. I've put 22,000 miles on it, and it is
my daily driver. I put on aprox 150 miles per day. Any other questions email
me at rcaster@yahoo.com. PS check out my website for add'l info.
|

|
Q: On your installation, did you make
any timing adjustments to compensate for increased intake temperature? And
have you had any problems with knocking? Have you done any intake
temperature monitoring to see how much the blower actually increase the IAT?
(I live in AZ and it gets pretty hot in the summer out here. Temperature
woes are always a huge problem for cars here.) Jan-17-06
|
A: No timing changes were made during the first 18,000
miles, just stock computer. From the day I installed it not a knock or a
ping. No stats on IAT yet, but I have added test ports to the newer kits and
plan to take readings soon. I don't think it will be much by only running
5.5 lbs of boost. Temp will rise @ higher boost 8-9 lbs.
|

|
Q: Do you run regular or super gas
with your kit installed? Jan-17-06
|
A: I did change from 87 to 91 octane.
|

|
Q: I noticed that you also have
computer mods on your personal truck. Did you dyno the truck before or after
the computer mods were added? Also how much did the computer mods that you
added cost you to install? Jan-17-06
|
A: I'd been running stock computer for about 18,000 miles
as I put on about 118 miles per day. I notice that my mileage was starting
to get better in mid septenber of last year, so took it in for dyno to see
what was happening. The Dyno run indicated It was starting to get lean, so
took it back in week later for a tune to enrichen the fuel. Nothing fancy
with the tune just more fuel and improvement on the shift points. A tune
will run a couple hundred.
|

|
Q: The stock 4.0 SOHC engine is
specified to have 207hp a 5,250 rpm and 238 ft/lb at 3000 rpm. Your dyno
chart actually shows only very moderate gains over this number, but
drivetrain losses, and actual numbers often vary from the manufacturer
numbers. Do you have a dyno chart of your truck BEFORE you installed the
supercharger to use as a baseline so that I can gauge the actual performance
improvement of the installation? Jan-17-06
|
A: The Stock 4.0 SOHC engine @ JBA Racing will put out
153hp & 176 lb ft tq at the rear wheels. Check out my website under (diary)
and you'll see the 3- Dyno sheets and memo. Currently with stock injectors,
Maff, etc I am running an additional 63hp and 74lb ft tq at the rear wheels.
This is still with 5.5 lbs of boost. I expect to see 250hp @ rear wheels
after the 80mm GT Maf & 30 lb injectors plus a good tune.
|

|
Q: Have you installed an aftermarket
pulley onto your truck (or has anybody else that you know of) in order to
get more boost? I'd love to know what the results were if it has been done.
Jan-17-06
|
6A) No after market pulley yet! Want to get 80mm GT Maf &
30 lb injectors plus a good tune first! Will then experiment with more boost
pressure, as that is when detonation will be a problem. The SOHC has high
compression thus water/alcohol injection may be needed around 6 lbs and
greater.
|

|
Q: What do i need for my 97 4.0L ?
Dec-19-05
|
A: Currently we only support the SOHC 4.0. Sometimes an OHV
manifold shows up on ebay. There is more work required as you need fuel
pump, injectors, etc.
|

|
Q: Hi there, I am considering
treating my Ranger to this modification. I'd be interested in a kit such as
this one but for the 4th generation supercharger. Any chance you know what
the Ford part number is on these units? Can you give me an idea of what your
installation kit would cost if I were to go with the 4th generation
supercharger? Thanks, Mike Dec-10-05
|
A: Mike, The 4th generation is about 3/4 inch longer and
there may not be enough room between firewall and inlet for the intake
assemble on the ranger. There is more clearance in the explorer and new
mustang. I don't want to tackle this one right now. They say the new mustang
supercharger setup for the 2004 & 2005 4.0 will not fit either. regards, Ron
|

|
Q: I have a 01 Ford Explorer Sport
with a 4.0 SOHC v6. Ok my question is, will this supercharger fit under the
hood with out any hood modifications? (The Stock Hood) Nov-18-05
|
A: If you measure from the center of the pulley torward the
firewall 8 inches. Then lay a straight edge across the fender with hood
open. If you have 6 inches or more to the top of the lower part of the valve
cover, you should have clearance to close stock hood.
|

|
Q: I have a Eaton M112 supercharger.
Will that fit instead of the M90? Oct-21-05
|
A: Not at this time as I have (not) made a base plate or
intake manifold for the M112.
|

|
Q: Does this kit include performance
fuel injectors, or are they even needed at all. Oct-21-05
|
A: Your stock SOHC has 24lb injectors, and will work fine
along with the stock fuel pump. The fuel pump is running a constant 62lbs.
In the future you may wish to increase your MAF to an 80mm and injectors to
30lb, for add'l performance. regards, Ron
